Sky1 HD

Sky1 HD is a high definition simulcast channel from Sky.

Sky1 HD broadcasts the same schedule as the standard definition channel, Sky1. Content is broadcast in high definition where available, or is upscaled where it is not available in high definition.

Broadcasting at a higher bitrate, the picture quality of even upscaled content is improved when compared to the standard definition channel.

How to watch Sky1 HD

Sky1 HD is a subscription channel, which means that it is encrypted and is only available on a Sky HD box with a viewing card that has the HD Pack/Mix enabled. Sky1 HD is included in the HD Pack/Mix (currently charged at £10 per month) and you do not need to subscribe to Sky1 to be able to get Sky1 HD.

History of Sky1 HD

Sky1 HD launched at the launch of Sky HD in May 2006.

A new Sky1 HD logo which was introduced when the channel rebranded on 31st August 2008.
