Sky Arts HD
Sky Arts HD is a high definition simulcast channel from Sky.Sky Arts HD broadcasts the same schedule as the standard definition channel, Sky Arts. Content is broadcast in high definition where available, or is upscaled where it is not available in high definition.
Broadcasting at a higher bitrate, the picture quality of even upscaled content is improved when compared to the standard definition channel.
How to watch Sky Arts HD
Sky Arts HD is a subscription channel, which means that it is encrypted and is only available on a Sky HD box with a viewing card that has the HD Pack/Mix enabled. Sky Arts HD is included in the HD Pack/Mix (currently charged at £9.75 per month) and you do not need to subscribe to Sky Arts to be able to get Sky Arts HD.You will find Sky Arts HD on Sky Guide Channel 258 & 259.
History of Sky Arts HD
Sky Arts HD started as Artsworld HD, which launched at the launch of Sky HD in May 2006 as a simulcast channel.Artsworld HD became Sky Arts HD on 1st March 2007 after BSkyB became the owner of the channel.
On the 20th October 2008, Sky Arts HD started simulcasting Sky Arts 1 and Sky Arts 2.
On the 2nd March 2009, Sky Arts 2 HD launched.
On the 8th June 2009, Sky Arts 1 HD & Sky Arts 2 HD became fully simulcasting of their SD channels, broadcasting between the hours of 8am to 2am.
