ITV 1 HD

ITV HD Logo ITV 1 HD is a high definition simulcast channel from ITV 1.

ITV 1 HD broadcasts the same schedule as the standard definition channel, ITV 1. Content is broadcast in high definition where available, or is upscaled where it is not available in high definition.

ITV HD officially launched as a red button service exclusive to Freesat. In March 2009, Sky viewers with the HD EPG were able to view this channel using the "Other Channels" section on their Sky HD Boxes, but not record programmes broadcast on it.

On 2nd April 2010, ITV HD changed to become ITV 1 HD, a HD simulcast of ITV 1.

How to watch ITV 1 HD

ITV 1 HD is Free to Air, which means that it is available without subscription to either Sky TV or the Sky HD Mix/Pack.

You will find ITV 1 HD on Sky Guide Channel 178.

History of ITV HD

ITV HD was initially launched as a trial in June 2006 for 6 months from 9th June 2006 to 30 November 2006. This trial channel was only available to subscribers of Telewest customer with a "TV Drive".

ITV officially launched its High Definition service again on 7th June 2008, however, it launched exclusively on Freesat. It was launched in time, on Freesat, for UEFA Euro 2008.

In March 2009, Sky began to roll out the new HD EPG to Sky+HD boxes, and it was quickly discovered that the new EPG allowed Sky+HD users to view ITV HD.

On 2nd April 2010, ITV HD changed to become ITV 1 HD
