Discovery HD

Discovery HD is a simulcast high definition channel from the Discovery Networks Europe. Discovery HD broadcasts the same schedule as the standard definition channel, Discovery. Content is broadcast in high definition where available, or is upscaled where it is not available in high definition.

How to watch Discovery HD

Discovery HD is a subscription channel, which means that it is encrypted and is only available on a Sky HD box with a viewing card that has the HD Pack enabled. Discovery HD is included in the HD Pack (currently charged at £10 per month) when you also subscribe to the Knowledge Pack.

History of Discovery HD

Discovery HD launched at the launch of Sky HD in May 2006.

Around the 5th October 2010, Discovery HD was changed to require a subscription to the HD Pack and the Knowledge Pack.

On 1st July 2011, Discovery HD changed from being a dedicated HD channel to a simulcast HD channel. This means that it will show the same programming as its SD channel, in High Definition where possible.
